The Restaurant
The Gilbert Scott dining room creates a sense of grandeur in a relaxed and informal brasserie-like setting. High ceilings and gilded frames exude a sense of magical charm whilst you enjoy our vast offerings. The ethos is a relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable service to put you at ease at any time of the day!
Inspired by the wondrous history within the building our menu reflects British tradition and great British produce. With a large menu we hope to be able to satisfy all tastes and preferences with our take on nostalgic British classics as well as interesting seasonal choices.
Occupying the original restaurant space of the Midland Grand Hotel (as it was formerly known), The Gilbert Scott restaurant retains the features such as the limestone pillars and ornate lace-like ceiling details.
Thanks must be given to the late Sir John Betjeman, an accomplished English poet, who was an avid campaigner against the proposed demolition of this wondrous space;
In Westminster Abbey, John Betjeman
“Now I feel a little better,
What a treat to hear Thy Word,
Where the bones of leading statesmen
Have so often been interr'd.
And now, dear Lord, I cannot wait
Because I have a luncheon date.”
